EDTC halts waste collection amid DMC dumping site closure

East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has suspended sanitation services and waste collection due to the closure of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) dumping site at Sunrise Colony, Burma camp.
DMC has stopped accepting waste from external agencies as the dumping site has exceeded capacity.
Earlier extensions, including a one-month reprieve until late April, have now ended, leaving the EDTC without a disposal outlet. In a press release, the EDTC informed residents, businesses and institutions under its jurisdiction that solid waste collection has been halted until an alternative arrangement was made.
The council said it has urgently taken up the matter with responsible authorities and was working to resolve the issue at the earliest.
ETDC has appealed to all residents, business establishments and institutions to bear with the inconvenience and extend cooperation during this period. It stated that further updates would be communicated.
