DIMAPUR: East Dimapur Town Council’s (EDTC) Rate Control & Quality Maintenance has cautioned all business establishments within its jurisdiction to strictly refrain from selling goods above the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) or stocking and selling expired products.
In a press release, EDTC directed shopkeepers, traders, wholesalers, retailers and other establishments to comply with legal provisions relating to pricing and product expiry. It warned that the Rate Control & Quality Maintenance cell would conduct regular inspections to ensure adherence.
The Council further stated that any individual or establishment found charging above MRP or selling expired goods would face strict legal action, including penalties and fines. EDTC sought cooperation from all concerned in protecting consumer rights and maintaining fair trade practices in the interest of the public.
