EDTC warns against single use plastic violations

DIMAPUR: The East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has informed all business establishments, commercial institutions, traders, dealers, shopkeepers, vendors, market associations and the general public within its jurisdiction that the prohibition on the manufacture, stocking, distribution, sale and use of Single Use Plastic (SUP) remains strictly in force as per the directives of the Government of Nagaland.
In a press release, the Council stated that it will intensify inspection and enforcement drives within its jurisdiction with immediate effect. It warned that any person, shop, establishment, institution or vendor found manufacturing, storing, selling, distributing, or using prohibited Single Use Plastic items will be liable for penal action, including seizure of materials and imposition of fines as per the relevant laws, rules, and government notifications. The Council also sought the cooperation of all ward Councillors, citizens, business establishments, market associations and stakeholders in the implementation of the ban.
