‘Education an important ingredient’

Minister of Health & Family Welfare, S. Pangnyu Phom asserted that education was the most important ingredient to develop healthy personal moral values and in building a vibrant society.

Pangnyu said this as special guest in his address, during the last day of golden jubilee celebration of Phom Lempong School (PLS) at Longleng on December 13.  

He said that education play an important role in building human values for his existence and can extend his abilities to give something back to the society. While asserting that with proper education, a person knows the rights and duties towards their family as well as the society, Pangnyu also said that person acquires the vision to fight against injustice, violence, corruption and many other confronting negative elements in the society. Appealing the gathering not to make mistakes while pursuing academics, he asked them to set a strong and right foundation so that education can elevate not only personality and livelihood but the society and future generation at large. 

Lauding that pioneers and leaders of Phom community has done commendable service as the school has produced countless personalities, Pangnyu also assured to extend his intervention in all possible ways to upgrade the school to higher secondary level very soon. 

On the jubilee celebration, he remarked that it was a moment to retrospect on the past activities of failure and success and to set a vision of preparation for the years ahead. Appealing the gathering to follow the SOPs issued by the government in regard to the prevention of Coronavirus, he also thanked all the frontline workers in creating awareness to the masses and taking remedial measures. 

Earlier, programme was chaired by alumni & asst. director Industries & Commerce Kohima, S. Chaidok Phom, scripture reading & prayer by pastor Phom Baptist Church Dimapur, Hemba Namdakly. Memories from alumni were shared by vice principal Yingli College Longleng, Dr. B. Henshet Phom and executive engineer PWD (R&B) Longleng, Er. S. ToshiAngh. Other highlights included beyond the golden year by Phom Lempong Children’s Home, searching pioneer’s heart by Dr. Asangla deputy director, AH&VS Kohima, daughter of late Rev. Lanumeren. Prayer of thankgiving blessing was led by pastor Longleng Town Baptist Church, Rev. Beau. Jubilee sounds was presented by Phom Lempong students while Jubilee message was delivered by alumni & former executive secretary, Phom Baptist Christian Association, Y. Nuklu Phom.
