Advisor of New & Renewable Energy and NSDMA, Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe while speaking at the 5th general conference of Pochury Hoho Kohima on Saturday underscored the crucial role of education in transforming society.
He said education must be the key driver of change, equipping young minds with the tools to dream big, think critically, and lead with courage. He pointed out the rich natural resources of Pochury land, emphasizing that with education and resource management, the community could achieve substantial growth.
Nyuthe also highlighted the enduring effects of educational and social backwardness that resulted from the tribe’s sacrifices in the Naga political movement. He recalled how journalist Gavin Young of The Observer, a London-based newspaper, secretly traveled to Nagaland and documented the Naga struggle in his article, “The Nagas: An Unknown War”, bringing international attention to the region.
Expressing joy over recent academic achievements, Nyuthe highlighted the HSLC and HSSLC results, noting that a student from St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Meluri ranked in the Top 20, while another young Pochury student secured a Top 6 position in the Science stream of the 2025 HSSLC examination. He commended the dedication of students and educators, calling their success a testament to hard work and perseverance.
Nyuthe further urged the community to embrace accountability and responsibility in shaping the future, emphasizing that true success lies not only in personal achievements but also in contributing to the collective well-being of society. He reiterated that investing in education was investing in the very foundation of the community’s future, ensuring progress driven by knowledge and resilience.
