Education key to transform society, says Dr. S.C Jamir

Former governor and also former chief minister of Nagaland, Dr. S.C. Jamir has termed education as an imperative institution for social, economic and political transformation of a society.

Dr. Jamir made this remark while addressing the “annual day-cum-award giving away ceremony 2019” of Delhi Public School (DPS) Dimapur on December 13 at the school ground.

The veteran Naga politician, who was also governor of Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Odisha, said nation building process takes its form and momentum in the educational institution itself.

He then encouraged the teachers to emulate the example of inspiring teachers to prepare youths who are educated and capable, with skills and intellectual capacity to meet various needs and requirements for developing the nation. 

The former five-time chief minister of Nagaland while addressing the elite gathering of intellectuals and working professionals especially the Naga parents, implored upon the need to create an environment whereby a new Naga polity sanctified with honesty, sincerity and with commitments can be build.

Displaying the wide spectrum of new experiences and learning that have taken place in the school, Dr. Jamir said the annual day celebration truly proved to be the acme of excellence of all academic and co-scholastic endeavours of DPS Dimapur.

Earlier, pro vice chairman of the school, Dr. Aotoshi delivered the welcome speech and the principal, B.K Nanda read out the annual school report. Besides the cultural presentations, various awards and trophies were given away on the occasion.
