Education row: KCTA clarifies

Kohima College Teachers’ Association (KCTA) has issued a press release seeking to clarify several statements “questioning the credibility of the College Principal Dr Watijungshi and the sanctity of the College as a whole.
In a press note, KCTA president Mhalezolie Kire and general secretary Sunjeminla said “an inadvertent human error was made in the issue of the B.A. provisional Certificate, on request, to Neiphiu Rio by the then administrative set up”. It pointed out that the present administrative set up rectified the error, and consequently issued a corrigendum and the corrected B.A. Pass certificate issued to Neiphiu Rio. In this regard, the college tendered an apology to Neiphiu Rio publicly without any bias, it added.
It said all would agree the undeniable fact that the college in its 49 years of existence had selflessly served the state and its people. “The insinuation that the college was indulging in commercialization is an affront that is exceedingly unacceptable and uncalled for”, KCTA said.
The clarification, KCTA said was to exonerate the incumbent principal and Kohima College, “from all baseless and fabricated allegations” and to affirm that they are above all these petty mongering and to be drawn into any further controversy”. The association affirmed to stand by their motto “Search for Excellence” and to continue to render their service for the uplift of the people.
