Union minister of state for Education Dr. R. R. Singh on Saturday termed education as an important instrument for inclusive growth as it serves as an engine for development of everyone.
Singh was addressing an interaction programme of the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI) and the State Competent Authorities and representatives of Minority Educational Institutions from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura and Sikkim at Niathu Resort, Chumoukedima by hosted by department of Higher Education, Nagaland.
He said Article 30 Clause 1 gives religion and linguistic minority a fundamental right to establish and set up their own Institution.
Singh therefore encouraged the gathering to take this opportunity and set up institutions to ensure quality and easy accessibility to education.
He also appreciated the Missionary Schools for imparting knowledge to the remote areas.
The union minster also mentioned that National Education Policy 2020 was brought about with an agenda for sustainable development and making educational institution more holistic to bring out capability of students.
Further, Singh urged the participants to come up with creative ideas to improve education system.
NCMEI chairman Justice Narendra Kumar Jain spoke on the right to free education and encouraged everyone to work on bringing Below Poverty Line (BPL) children to school. He informed the gathering that Government of India was working on bringing 100% enrolment by 2030.
Commissioner & Secretary for Higher and Technical Education. Anenla T. Sato thanked the union minister for choosing Nagaland to conduct the programme and for bringing many changes.
She also thanked the Jain Community for running S.D. Jain educational institutions in Nagaland and imparting quality education.
Vote of thanks was proposed by Kevileno Angami, commissioner & secretary for School Education & SCERT, Nagaland.
Around 200 delegates attended the programme.
