DIMAPUR: Educational institutions across Nagaland observed significant milestones and activities, celebrating academic achievements, youth engagement, creativity and social responsibility
World Entrepreneurs’ Day at PCC: Young Indians (Yi), Patkai Christian College (Autonomous), organised a one day entrepreneurship interaction programme on August 21, 2026 to mark World Entrepreneurs’ Day 2026, under the theme “From Idea to Impact.”
Held at the College Conference Hall, the programme brought together students and entrepreneurs to explore the journey from ideas to impactful enterprises. It focused on entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership and sustainable enterprise, encouraging students to identify real world problems, develop solutions and pursue entrepreneurship as a meaningful career pathway.
Chairing the programme, Jubito Aye led the proceedings, with invocation by Zuthungbeni Shitio. Zakir Alam, Programme Coordinator and Faculty in Charge of Yi, said the day celebrates not only successful businesses but also ideas, courage, creativity and resilience. He emphasised that entrepreneurship begins with an idea but is shaped by determination and action, urging students to create value and address societal challenges.
Moderating the technical session, Dr. Dakter Esse Jamir (Mass Communication) encouraged students to actively engage with speakers and draw lessons from their experiences.
The three resource persons shared diverse journeys. Atoho A. Kinimi, founder of JoldiPabo Pvt. Ltd., spoke on problem solving in entrepreneurship, recalling how his venture emerged from everyday challenges. Imli Lee, musician, entrepreneur and president of Music Awards of Nagaland, highlighted persistence and risk taking in the creative industry, urging students to embrace opportunities without waiting for perfect readiness. Peihauding, founder & CEO of Ngurie Organic Pvt. Ltd. and Kendeu Coaching Centre, shared his journey from village beginnings to award winning entrepreneurship, stressing vision, perseverance and innovation for societal benefit.
The Q&A session saw students seek guidance on event management, funding, innovation and opportunities in the music industry. Speakers advised consistency, problem solving, documentation of ideas and use of incubation centres and government schemes.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Abhishek Kumar Singh, followed by a photo session and refreshments.
Norman Putsure College graduation day: Norman Putsure College, Chümoukedima, held its Graduation Programme on August 22 at the college auditorium, celebrating the achievements of the Class of 2026.
The programme, chaired by Limayala Changkílari, Assistant Professor (English), commenced with invocation by Lorence Ngushe, Assistant Professor (Sociology), followed by a welcome address from Saneinuo Putsure, Managing Director.
Highlights included a musical ensemble by students, faculty address by Nungsangmongla Ozukum (History), and valedictory address by Kenitsino Chase, representing the graduating class.
Prof. (Dr.) Zavise Rume, Director, Vocational Studies, International University, Nagaland, graced the occasion as Chief Guest, urging students to embrace perseverance, responsibility and the significance of education as they step into new opportunities.
A special tribute to parents was presented by Kaikho Loli (History), acknowledging their support and sacrifices. Awards and certificates were presented by Vizono Khesoh, Convener, Graduation Committee, recognising student achievements. The programme concluded with an expression of gratitude by Avani Ngullie and benediction by Vilbonu Kulnu (Sociology).
NEISSR observes 7th National Social Work Week: North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), Peace Centre, Chümoukedima, observed the 7th National Social Work Week 2026 from August 15 to 22, 2026 under the theme “Social Work: Strengthening Minds, Strengthening Families.”
The observance commenced on August 15 with the celebration of Independence Day, organised by Students Council for Social Change (SCSC) and National Service Scheme (NSS). Principal Dr. Fr. CP Anto called upon youth to become professionals with competence, citizens with conscience and leaders with compassion.
Activities during the week included: Instagram Reel Making on mental health (Aug 17–18); Poster Making Competition on HIV stigma (Aug 19); Interactive discussion on family relationships titled “The Digital Divide in the Living Room” (Aug 20); Digital Poster Campaign on mental health awareness (Aug 21) and Debate and Essay Writing Competitions (Aug 22).
The release informed that the week-long observance connected classroom learning with contemporary social realities, while fostering communication, creativity, advocacy, teamwork and responsible citizenship.
St. Joseph’s College hosts 39th Freshers’ Day: St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama, hosted its 39th Freshers’ Day on August 22 at the College Indoor Stadium, welcoming the new batch of students.
Vibozoto Yiene, Additional Secretary, IT & Communication, graced the occasion as guest speaker. In his address, he highlighted the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and urged students to develop relevant skills to adapt to the changing world of work.
Principal Dr. Fr. George Keduolhou Angami welcomed the freshers, encouraging them to actively engage in college life and make the most of their educational journey.
The programme featured cultural performances, including a folk dance by the NSS Unit and a presentation by the Dance Club, along with introductions of the freshers by class representatives. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and the College Anthem.
SCC conducts bead making and knitting workshop: The Parent Teacher Association (PTA), in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Sao Chang College (SCC), organised a bead making and knitting workshop on August 22 for Fifth Semester students at the college conference hall.
According to a press release, A. Alemla Chang served as resource person for bead making, while A. Chubasangla Chang conducted the knitting session.
The workshop provided hands on training, encouraging creativity, skill development and appreciation of traditional crafts. Altogether 20 students actively participated in the programme.
