
Peace Channel in collaboration with North East Institute of Social Sciences & Research (NEISSR)and MGM group of institutions and Diocesan-Mission education board in association with association of Chhattisgarh Christian Educational Societies organised separate webinars on June 12.
PC, NEISST: A webinar on “the importance of dialogue in personal, family and community life” was organised by Peace Channel in collaboration with North East Institute of Social Sciences & Research (NEISSR) on June 12.
A press release by the organisers informed that the resource persons for the session were Dr. Deben Sharma, assistant professor at NEISSR; Dr. Fr. C. P. Anto, principal of NEISSR and founder and director of Peace Channel and Rev. Fr. Paul Inashe, superior, Capuchin House Dimapur.
In his presentation, Rev. Dr. Anto emphasised on the need for dialogue in maintaining relationships in this day’s state of affair. He said relationships have to be re-established among individuals, groups and communities through peaceful dialogue such that communities could refrain from the use of violence to resolve differences and conflict of interests.
Dr Anto also stressed on the need to build trust and safety among the communities, which he said could be achieved through willingness and openness to accept differences and also, in respecting diversities of individuals and communities living in a society.
Dr. Deben Sharma gave an insight of the road map of dialoguing towards peace building. Presenting to the need of the time, he said dialogue was the essential democratic and inclusive approach to resolve differences and channel it towards something that have never been created before.
Rev. Fr. Paul Inashe said people are in need of a space where they have the attitude of respecting and acceptance, attitude of accommodation and understanding and have the openness to changes and differences.
He said the communities could cultivate the culture of accommodating the different perspectives without any judgement and biases. “Many a times, we fail to live in peace with others in the communities because we often tend to impose our own ideology or beliefs against others, and still fail to recognize and respect the views of the others,” said Rev Fr. Paul.
The facilitator of the webinar was Vitono Gugu Haralu, trainer and consultant at Peace Channel; vote of thanks was delivered by Manpang Nyiam, Kohima district coordinator. The webinar was attended by around 100 peace partners, community leaders, teachers and students from across the state.
MGM: MGM group of institutions and Diocesan- Mission education board in association with association of Chhattisgarh Christian Educational Societies organised a value-based seminar on the topic, “creative avenues of technology”.
In a press release, MGM College principal, Fr. Dr. P. S.Varghese stated that Diocesan education officer Dr. Fr. Joshi Varghese addressed the session on “adversity brings the best in man”. Resource person, Dr. George Varghese said technology in online teaching and learning develops competency and effective learning and teaching procedures.
He proceeded the training session further with innovative strategies and aspects based upon technology applicable for online teaching methods making online class more interactive, interesting and beneficial for students.
Earlier, in welcome speech, MGM, public school Bilaspur, Rev.Fr. Joby Peter asserted the need of the institution to face the challenges in online learning during the pandemic.
He said it was time for the teachers to identify, explore, experiment and get equipped with online teaching technologies and methodologies.
Around 880 teachers including teachers of MGM College and MGMHSS participated in the webinar; vote of thanks was delivered by MGM Higher Secondary School, Itarsi principal, Fr. Xavier T Daniel.
