Educational institutions organise activities for students

Educational institutions organised various programs and activities as part of their extracurricular activities.


Veterinary College, Jalukie: Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Jalukie, organized one day awareness programme on the topic “Management of Pig Reproduction”, for pig breeders under ongoing Intramural Research Project, funded by Central Agricultural University, Imphal, entitled “Performance of single and double artificial insemination in smallholder pig production system in Peren district of Nagaland”, on August 29.


The programme was also conducted to contribute towards “100 days Action Plan Activities” of the college. A press release by the college informed that a technical session was held under the programme where various topics namely “Heat detection of pigs and its importance in successful breeding”, “Scientific breeding and farrowing management in pigs” and “Critical managemental intervention of piglets” were delivered by Dr. Bhabesh Mili, Dr. Tukheswar Chutia and Dr. Imtiwati, Assistant Professors, Department of Livestock Production and Management, respectively.


Further, hands on training pertaining to different steps of AI techniques in pigs were also provided to pig breeders by Dr. Tukheswar Chutia.
A total of 31 pig breeders from village Samziuram, Jalukie-B and Jalukie colony Ward No. 9 and 8 officials attended the programme.


Dean of the college, Dr I Shakuntala, emphasized to acquire more technical knowledge on pig reproduction and associated venture through active participation for better pig production in the region.


NUEDC: Nagaland University’s Entrepreneurship Development Centre hosted an Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme (EAP) at Sazolie College on August 28. The programme was sponsored by North Eastern Council (NEC) and the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship. A press release by NU, PRO Peter Ki informed that the initiative was part of the project “Establish, Develop and Manage Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) and Incubation Centre (IC) in Educational Institutes of North-East Region”.


The awareness programme featured technical session from head of department of management at NU Prof. Kh. Devananda Singh. The initiative has been designed for the youths aged 18-40 residing or studying in Kohima district with innovative business ideas or businesses running for up to five years.


Ten selected participants will join a five -day Entrepreneurship Development Programme at NU Kohima campus and compete for Rs. 5 lakh start-up grants. Modern College: Eighteen students along with two faculty from Modern college (MC) Piphema, visited the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) during the ongoing fifth session of the 14 NLA on August 24.


The students observed the morning session, which included starred questions, supplementary questions, answers, and zero-hour discussions on urgent state issues. The visit aimed to give students hands on experience with legislative procedures in the assembly including asking and answering questions, addressing the speaker, and uphold political etiquette.


MGM: Department of Commerce and Economics, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully organized a lecture on “Revolutionary Approaches in Indian Digital Banking,” sponsored by South Indian Bank, on August 30, at MGM College.


Acting principal, Dr. R.K. Behera, emphasized the critical need for innovation in the banking sector as India moves towards a digitally-driven economy. Fr. Giju Abhram, the college’s administrator, delivered a thought-provoking speech that highlighted the institution’s commitment to fostering an understanding of technological advancements and their societal impacts.


Keynote address was delivered by South Indian Bank, Bank Manager Jaivin Joseph, where he underscored the importance of adopting revolutionary technologies to keep pace with global financial developments.

Dr. Tapashi Dasgupta, Head of the Department of Commerce, ICFAI University and the event’s resource person, presented an in-depth analysis of the transformational impact of digital banking on India’s economy. Her presentation was both insightful and forward-looking, shedding light on the potential of digital banking to enhance financial inclusion and efficiency.
