Educational institutions organise various programmes

As part of its academic and extracurricular activities, educational institutions across the state organised various programmes and activities.


GHS Chare: One day seminar on “Evolving Horizons-Charting a Visionary Course” was organised by School Development Management Committee (SMDC) Government High School (GHS) Chare Tuensang on August 4.
At the seminar, academician, lawyer and writer, Dr. Aniruddha Babar delivered talk on the topics, ““Building a stronger India through intergenerational collaboration” and “You are being summoned by the new world”.
Dr. Aniruddha emphasised the importance of unity and cooperation among different age groups to achieve justice, progress and development.


Dr Aniruddha also expressed concern on rising alcoholism, drugs and tobacco addiction as well as HIV prevalence among youths of Nagaland. He advocated for “Tobacco Free Zones”, and strongly suggested introducing “sex education” in schools.


The talks delivered by the resource person were translated into Sangtam language by GT, Nycha Sangtam.
The seminar witnessed a diverse and enthusiastic audience, including students, parents, teaching and non-teaching staff of GHS, Chare, GBs, academicians, scholars, church members, and civil society members.
DBCK: Don Bosco College, Kohima (DBCK) celebrated its 9th Fresher’s Day on August 5 at the College with Kohima Village chairman, Helievi-O Solo as the special invitee. In his address, Solo urged the youngsters to take initiatives, responsibilities and indulge in extracurricular activities.


PGC: Phek Government College held its 41st Annual Fresher’s Day on August 5 with Superintendent of Police (SP) Phek, Bharat Laxman Markad as guest speaker. In his speech, Markad urged the students to make effort and seek knowledge, saying that the college was a place for guidance and navigation. He also exhorted the students to develop and make good friendship, and enjoy the transformative experience which college life offers. Further, he advised young people to stay away from substance abuse as it always led to regret.


UCTE: A three-day playwriting workshop “Kala Srijan” was organised by Sangeet Natak Academi, National Academy of Music, Dance, and Drama, an autonomous institution of Ministry of Culture, government of India, on August 1-3 at Unity College of Teacher Education (UCTE) Dimapur. The resource persons were Harvinder Kaur from Mumbai/Delhi and Akashaditya Lama from Mumbai.


MMC: Model Christian College held its 9th Students’ Council election and elected Ajunlo Kent as the new president of the council for the tenure 2023-24.
