Educational institutions organise various programmes

Educational institutions across the state have been organising various activities for the students and staff as part of their yearly curriculum or extracurricular activity.
DGC and UC: One day state-level seminar was jointly organised by Jal Shakti Team, Dimapur Government College (DGC) and Swachhta Action Plan Committee, Unity College (UC) Dimapur on Thursday at DGC, Seminar Hall.
A press release by DGC informed that the seminar held under the theme, “Urban Ground Water Management in Nagaland: Issues and the way forward” was sponsored by Internal Quality Assessment Committee (IQAC) DGC and IQAC UC, Dimapur.
At the programme, resource person, joint director, directorate of soil & water conservation, Limasunep, highlighted the gathering on water related stress faced by the country and depletion of groundwater in northeastern regions.
He gave suggestions on how to ensure a sustainable future and encouraged the community to engage into water harvesting techniques to prevent further deterioration of underground water.
Limasunep also shared various techniques on water management and encouraged the institutions and community leaders to educate the people to preserve rain water through various forms and to increase the underground level of water.
The representatives from different colleges from Dimapur, colony and village council members, students and faculty members of the two colleges participated in the seminar.
Earlier, DGC principal, professor Sanjay Sharma also shared his concern about the gravity of water resource problems which would lead to conflicts among nations if not taken care of. He also mentioned that northeastern regions received abundant rainfall yet there was decline in the level of underground water.
KLC: Teaching and non-teaching staff of Kohima Law College (KLC) on November 2 visited Kohima Orphanage & Destitute Home (KODH), Kohima and held a fellowship with the children.
The programme was chaired by Neibano and KLC principal, Soni Tep shared a message based on the “life story of Joseph” from the Bible while a motivational talk was delivered by assistant professor, Kezhokhoto Savi.
JMC: Jubilee Memorial College (JMC) observed “vigilance awareness week” on November 3, wherein the college principal, Dr. Imtiwati Jamir read out the pledge while the students took the oath to be vigilant and work towards the eradication of corruption in India. A short introduction of the programme was given by post master, Nagaland division, I. Narola Jamir.
RS: Ramzie School Jalukie held its cultural day-cum-inauguration of community library at the school premises with SDO power department, Kidosap Siarau as the guest of honour.
A press release by the school informed that the library is the first community library in Peren district and was sponsored by The K.A.L. Group (Legal practitioners & Consultants) Dimapur and Noida based “Sarvahitey”.
Speaking at the programme, Siarau lauded and congratulated the school authority and K.A.L. Group for introducing community library at the school, and added that the installation of community library would greatly benefit the students and intellectual community.
He encouraged the students to invest their time in reading books other than the school curriculum textbooks.
Siarau also spoke on the importance of promoting indigenous culture and cautioned that if traditional values and culture were not practised then it would extinct. Highlights of the programme included folk song and cultural dance competition.
PGC: A legal awareness programme was organised by the Peren Government College Legal Literacy Club in collaboration with the Peren District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA) on November 3 at PGC auditorium. During the programme, panel lawyer, PDLSA, Italang Ramlia, highlighted the concept and importance of legal literacy and legal service authority and secretary, PDLSA, Kumdilong Kesen talked on the procedures to file FIR/Cyber Laws while retainer lawyer, Asungbe N Hau briefed on the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection Act 2015. The programme was attended by the principal, faculty in-charge LLC, faculty and PGC students.
