Educational institutions, others organise programmes

As part of academic and extracurricular activities, various programmes and activities were organised by educational institutions for the student community and faculties. Fire Safety and Evacuation Drill at CKHSS: Kohima Fire Station (North) conducted a Fire Safety and Evacuation Drill at Christ King Higher Secondary School (CKHSS) on May 30. The exercise, led by Sub-Inspector Kevikietuo Kire, was aimed to educate students and staff on crucial fire safety measures.


Kevikietuo delivered an informative lecture on fire preventive measures and the importance of installing fire protection systems in schools. The session covered various types of fire extinguishers, their operation, and handling techniques. Special emphasis was placed on managing LPG fires and the appropriate response during LPG cylinder leakage incidents. The team also conducted live demonstrations, showcasing effective methods to handle such emergencies without panic.


State level workshop on Research Methodology: Research and Development Cell (RDC) and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Dimapur Government College organised a one- day “State Level Workshop on Research Methodology and Research Publication in SCOPUS and UGC-CARE Listed Journals” on June 3.


In the first session, the resource person was Prof. Nigamananda Das, Head, department of English, Nagaland University, who spoke on the topic “Research Publication in SCOPUS and UGC-CARE Listed Journals” where he deliberated at length about the importance of writing good research papers.


In the second session, the resource person was Dr. B V Rao, Associate Professor, department of Education, Nagaland University, who spoke at length on the topic “Key Elements in Qualitative and Quantitative Research” where he discussed about the various types of research tools and how one can incorporate such tools into one’s research work. A total of 102 participants attended both online and offline.


The programme was chaired by Dr. Vinyühu Lhoungu, Assistant Professor, department of Economics and IQAC Coordinator, Dimapur Government College in the first session and Dr. Yelhi Vero, Assistant Professor, department of Economics and Convenor of Research and Development Cell, Dimapur Government College. Dr. A. Sentiyula, Head, department of English, DGC invoked God’s blessings while the welcome address was delivered by Prof. Sanjay Sharma, principal, DGC.


SJS celebrates watermelon festival: Saint John School (SJC) Diphupar ‘B’, Chümoukedima celebrated its first-ever Watermelon Festival on May 31, at the school premises.
In a press release St John, Headmaster, Johny Abraham informed that at the festival students wore colourful dresses in red, green, and black to represent watermelon and games like melon toss, melon obstacle race, and melon relay race were conducted.


Earlier, the event was chaired by Bhaviya of class 10 and inaugurated by headmaster, Johny Abraham, welcome address by Emironi of Class 5 and exploration of the history of watermelon by Luniezo’s of class 5, Azezee of class 5, enlightened all on the myriad benefits of the juicy fruit.
