DIMAPUR: Eastern Konyak Union Myanmar (EKUM) has expressed deep sorrow over the recent landslide tragedy in Mon district and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the Konyak community, particularly the bereaved families who lost their loved ones.
In a statement, Eastern Konyak Union Myanmar president PM Aman said unavoidable disruptions in communication and internet connectivity across its region had prevented it from issuing its condolence message earlier. It, however, said that although the message was delayed, its grief, prayers and concern for the bereaved families and all those affected had remained constant throughout the difficult period.
Describing the incident as a devastating tragedy that claimed precious lives and left families heartbroken, the union said it stood in solidarity with every bereaved family and prayed that they would find strength, comfort and hope during their time of grief.
Eastern Konyak Union Myanmar also expressed appreciation to the Konyak Union, Mon headquarters, for its efforts in coordinating the search and recovery of the victims. He said the selfless service rendered during the crisis reflected the enduring spirit of unity, compassion and brotherhood of the Konyak people.
The union prayed that Almighty God would grant strength, comfort and peace to all those mourning the loss of their loved ones, and that the departed souls would rest in eternal peace.
Assuring the bereaved families of its continued thoughts, prayers and support, Eastern Konyak Union Myanmar said it hoped the unity of the Konyak people would continue to bring strength, comfort and hope to every grieving family. It also prayed that God’s love and grace would bring healing, consolation and hope to all those affected by the tragedy.
Meanwhile, Konyak Region, NSCN/GPRN-K (YA) has expressed condolences to the Konyak community, particularly the bereaved families who lost their loved ones in the recent landslide tragedy in Mon district.
In a statement, the Konyak Region said it was unable to convey its condolence message earlier due to prolonged disruption of communication and internet connectivity in the region. It, however, said its thoughts and prayers had been with the bereaved families and all those affected since the tragedy occurred.
Describing the incident as a devastating calamity, the organisation said the loss of many precious lives had brought immeasurable grief and sorrow to the affected families and the entire Konyak community. It expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and all those affected, assuring them of its continued support.
The region also appreciated all personnel, volunteers and members of the local community engaged in rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts, stating that their courage, compassion and selfless service during the crisis were deeply appreciated.
It prayed for eternal rest for the departed souls and sought God’s strength, courage and consolation for the bereaved families, speedy recovery for the injured, and protection and guidance for those engaged in rescue, relief and rehabilitation work.
The organisation said it shared in the collective grief of the bereaved families and the entire Konyak community, praying that Almighty God’s love, mercy and grace would bring comfort to every grieving heart, strengthen all those affected and sustain the community with hope and peace in the days ahead.
