Chief Wildlife Warden (CWW) Nagaland, Satya Prakash Tripathi, has informed interested parties that provisional Ownership Certificates (OCs) will be granted for captive elephants as per an order of the Supreme Court. A press release by the CWW stated that the Supreme Court order dated November 1, 2018, directed all Chief Wildlife Wardens of the country to grant provisional Ownership Certificates for captive elephants, after following mandatory procedures required by law. Tripathi has asked all owners of captive elephants to collect applications for the certificates from January 21 to 25 during office hours, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and submit the completed application to the Chief Wildlife Warden office, latest by January 28, 12 p.m., for issuing provisional certificates, after examining the application. The office has asked applicants to contact forest range officers, Kenlumtatei at 9612024423 and Aaron Yimchunger at 9612408797.
