The Elumyo Village Council (EVC) have banned hunting and fishing within the village jurisdiction and prohibited carrying hunting or fishing weapons. The initiative was to preserve the village’s wildlife and aquatic resources.
In a press release, EVC chairman C. Zumomo Tsanglao informed that the local populace of Elumyo village is exempted from this resolution, except from April to July, when all wildlife hunting will be strictly prohibited.
EVC stated that violators of the resolution would be penalised with a fine ranging from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000, depending on the case.
The Council warned individuals, especially from neighboring villages, against violations, stating that drastic action could be taken for blatant offenses, and the Council would not be held responsible.
