ENCSU visits SCC; highlights land encroachment issue

Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) on September 25 initiated spot verification of Sao Chang College (SCC), government college, and expressed concern over land encroachment by “private parties”.

In a press release, ENCSU president Serichum J Sangtam and general secretary Sanglekhamba C Chang said the spot verification was joined by the district administration Tuensang, Confederation of Chang Students’ Union, C-Khel Tuensang Village, SCC authorities and SCC students’ council.

ENCSU said that according to the survey map of Directorate Higher Education in the year 1992, the documents clearly stated that the land measured 48.24 acres. However, at present the union said the college has only 38 acres due to “illegal encroachment”. ENCSU said SCC being one of the oldest colleges in eastern Nagaland has lost its land resulting in loss of developmental activities. In this regard, ENCSU has appealed all stakeholders and public to cooperate with the union to resolve the issue.
