A one day seminar on ‘Energy Conservation Awareness Programme’, was organised by Nagaland State Designated Agency, (NSDA), at Model Hr Sec School where students of Jubilee M Hr Sec shool and Edith Douglas Hr Sec School also attended the program.
While speaking on the topic- ‘Ways and means to serve energy’, resource person and consultant of NDSA, Nilanjan Bose enlightened the students about the various steps of generating and distribution of electricity to the general population. He also educated the gathering to be responsible consumers and also handed out tips to conserve energy by switching off electrical appliances like air conditioner, geyser, lights, fans etc when not in use.
He also encouraged the students to use compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) in place of ordinary 100W incandescent bulbs as it save more than 80 % of energy with extended life up to eight times than ordinary lamps.
Assistant Director, Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Kolkatta, Arnab Chakraborty also presented a slide show on energy usages, the different kinds of energy and the various areas of excessive consumption of energy.
Short speech was delivered by Executive Engineer (E) Mokokchung, Er. Moa Aier. The seminar was chaired by Meyimenla and introductory & welcome address by Er. P.T Philip, Sr. Electrical Inspector. Vote of thanks was delivered by Er. T K Halder, Electrical Inspector.
Earlier in the day, the said seminar was also held at Mayangnokcha Hr. Sec School for the students of Children School, Imsutemjen Hr. Sec School and host school students.
