‘Energy efficient Kma’ launched

To mark the occasion of Independence Day 2016 celebration, the Kohima District Administration has launched the ‘Energy Efficient Kohima’ at Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) Conference Hall, Kohima on August 15. 
According to DIPR report, the programme was initiated by the District Administration Kohima towards ‘Energy Efficient Kohima’ in collaboration with the Energy Efficient Service Limited (EESL), a public sector body of Government of India implementing the UJALA scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Kohima, Rovilatuo Mor IAS, stated that the initiative of the programme was taken up for the benefit of individual consumer of power in the district. 
Under the programme LED light bulbs would be distributed to some selected villages at subsidized rate of Rs. 70 per bulb (market price Rs. 699) while selected welfare homes would be issued free of cost with all the transportation expenditure borne by the District Administration. 
The DC asserted that the use of LED bulbs would consume less electricity which would drastically reduce the electricity bill and save the power consumption in the district. 
With the launching of ‘Energy Efficient Kohima’ for few selected villages and welfare homes in Kohima town, DC expressed hope that it would go a long way in strengthening energy power consumption in the district. 
In this regard, DC urged the selected beneficiary villages to ensure that individual’s name and LED bulbs rate should be properly recorded and maintained and to deposit back the amount of LED bulbs to the DC’s Office. 
He also informed that the concerned area district administrators would cross check and verify the status of the implementation in their respective areas. 
During the launching programme, a MoU was signed between the District Administration, Kohima and EESL to cover all the villages and towns of the district as long as the implementation was practicable.
Additional commissioner, Reny Wilfred IAS (P) who gave a brief report on the initiative said that the initiative was taken up to solve the power consumption issue and transformer overload problems. 
The EESL official from Kolkata shared the success story of LED bulbs implementation in other states so far. He also highlighted the aims and objective of the National UJALA Scheme under the Union Ministry of Power, Government of India.
The beneficiaries villages and welfare homes included Kezo Basa; Dzülakie; Chedema; Thekrüjuma; KCCI; Old Age Home; Kohima Orphanage & Destitute Homes; Eden Garden, Khuzama, Aids Hospice, Home Gilead and Bright Morning Star Orphanage Home.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by SDO (C) Dev., Anyei Walliemp who also delivered the welcome address while vote of thanks was proposed by SDO (C) Sadar, Kethosituo Sekhose.
