Enforcement drive on sale of tobacco at Mon Town

To strengthen Section 6 (b) of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) 2003, an enforcement squad under National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) Mon, conducted an enforcement drive on checking the sale of tobacco products near educational institutions on September 19, at Mon Town.
In a press release, NHM Mon, media officer Leeyan Chemshy stated that the team was led by district nodal officer NTCP Mon, Dr. I. Simon Sumi, EAC Merishan Ezung and district consultant NTCP Mon Nyeamying Konyak.
At the enforcement drive, a total number of 10 shops were found selling tobacco products near educational institutions.
Later, the team seized the products and destroyed them at the dumping area.
