District Tobacco Control Cells (DTCCs) Peren and Tuensang under National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP) carried out enforcement drives on tobacco to implement Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) 2003 in respective districts.
Peren: District anti-tobacco squad Peren carried out a surprise raid on the sale of tobacco products near the school area on May 9. The team penalised two defaulters and seized tobacco products.
Tuensang: An enforcement drive as part of “World No Tobacco month” was conducted on May 9 at Tuensang. The team was led by district consultant, DTCC, Sentilong Longchar and accompanied by ASI Moshamongba Chang and other police personnel.
The team carried out raids near district hospital, private nursing home and educational institutions and penalized 11 shops.
