ENPO reiterates demand for ‘Frontier Nagaland’

Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) has reiterated its demand for ‘Frontier Nagaland’ by ensuring that it does not hamper the ongoing Naga political talks with the Government of India in any manner.

During a meeting of its Central Executive Council (CEC) held at Tuensang headquarters on Tuesday, ENPO also reiterated the December 1, 2020 and August 17, 2021 Joint Consultative Meeting resolutions adopted at Dimapur and Kohima respectively.

According to ENPO media cell, the meeting resolved that the six tribal bodies of Eastern Nagaland would participate at the 14 Naga Tribes meeting regarding “unified Naga political solution” only as initiated by ENPO and that they would not participate in the meeting without prior consultation with the organisation.

The house also decided that the six tribal bodies of Eastern Nagaland would not participate in the formation of the proposed 14 Naga Tribes’ Forum/Body.

It was also unanimously agreed to leave the matter of appointment of gaon burahs (GBs) in urban areas to the wisdom of the State government.

Reaffirming the December 18, 2007 Tuensang Summit resolution, the CEC resolved to call for unity of Nagas without territorial demarcation and insisted that there should be no violence in any form like killing, kidnapping, physical assault, threat, intimidation, undue disturbance, etc., both among the groups/factions and on innocent public by any armed cadres within ENPO jurisdiction.

The meeting also strongly reiterated the Kiphire resolution for safety and security of ENPO/tribal bodies/frontal organisation leaders and public in general, and asserted thatENPO shall ensure necessary steps for protection and well-being of citizens.

While reiterating the Kiphire resolution that activities/cadres, both armed and civilian wings of all Naga political groups (NPGs)/factions would not interfere and involve in any local issues, the house warned that ENPO would cease all forms of co-operation and take appropriate redressal measures against the group/faction for any violation or non-compliance of the resolution.

On behalf of all peace-loving Naga citizen and based on the March 22, 2019 ENPO Phumji Dikhu resolution, the meeting further unanimously resolved to continue to appeal to all NPGs and negotiators to unite and pursue for a unified, honourable and peaceful Naga political solution.

While reiterating its fullest support and co-operation towards the cause, the meeting also resolved that any solution that might appear to be detrimental to peace and unity and to the people of Eastern Nagaland would be opposed.
