Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) while reminding chief minister, Dr. Neiphiu Rio on his commitment on the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT), said they prayerfully anticipated, which could pave way for FNT as offered by the government of India to ENPO.
In a press release, ENPO media cell said that they were overwhelmed by the statement made by Dr. Neiphiu Rio in 2023 in Mon and Tuensang respectively, where he had categorically stated that, “the State Govt. will give full cooperation for the development of ENPO areas and whatever decision on FNT we will be a partner and see that they catch up with the rest of the state and the country”.
According to ENPO, Dr. Rio has also stated that, Central Government, State of Nagaland and ENPO have unanimously agreed and consented in principle on FNT with executive, legislative and financial autonomy. Therefore, ENPO said that this fundamental principle must be granted in letter and spirit.
ENPO has also made a fervent appeal to the state government to partner with the ENPO to ensure that the parameters of the FNT should not be limited by any Article of the constitution of India or statutory laws framed there under.
The state government and Central government must ensure that constitutional provisions and statutory laws do not inhibit the establishment of the FNT in any manner, ENPO said.
