The much-anticipated tripartite talks on the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) issue commenced on Friday (December 13) in Delhi, following the submission of the Nagaland government’s comments on the draft Memorandum of Settlement (MoS).
Sources said that the meeting was “fruitful and positive. It is a significant step toward addressing the long-standing demands of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO), sources added.
Sources indicated that the discussions focused on key aspects of the proposed arrangement and efforts to resolve the issue amicably.
A 10-member delegation from ENPO, led by its president A. Chingmak Chang, represented the region.
Nagaland government was represented by chief secretary J. Alam and accompanied by addl CS & Finance commissioner and Home commissioner, while Government of India was represented by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan.
Intelligence Bureau chief Tapan Kumar Deka and advisor (North East) AK Mishra were also present at the meeting.
