ENPO temporarily suspends public emergency

Aiming at fostering mutual understanding and pursuing a peaceful resolution regarding creation of Frontier Nagaland Territory by the Centre, the ongoing public emergency in Eastern Nagaland, declared on February 5, 2024, has been temporarily suspended.

This was resolved at the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation’s (ENPO) Central Executive Council meeting held at Tuensang on July 3. However, according to ENPO, the suspension was subject to review in the event of compelling circumstances.

Rejects proposed nominees: On the issue of nominees in Urban Local Bodies, ENPO said the question of appointing nominees in Eastern Nagaland areas did not arise as the region did not participate in ULB polls, emphasising “no election means no nominees.” It said that the Chenmoho resolution and ULB nomination process were closely intertwined.
