DIMAPUR: The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Union, Mokokchung (ENPUM) has issued a clarification and withdrawal regarding its September 16 circular, titled “Public warning notice: Regarding objectionable/manipulated content on social media.” The initial circular, issued on September 18, reportedly created misunderstanding and concern among the public.
In a press release issued by ENPUM president Y. Among Yim and general secretary, Nohochem Sangtam stated that in view of the situation, ENPUM released a clarification and withdrawal circular on September 21.
Subsequently, the Ao Senden convened a joint meeting on September 23 at Aor Kilem, through its official letter dated September 21. ENPUM attended the meeting and held consultations with the concerned organisation.
During the deliberations, ENPUM acknowledged its lapse in connection with the issuance of the circular. After thorough discussions, both parties resolved the matter in good faith, affirming their commitment to unity, reconciliation and brotherhood in the spirit of their forefathers.
ENPUM has appealed to the general public to put the matter to rest, stressing that the misunderstanding was unfortunate and unintended. The Union urged citizens to continue fostering peace, harmony and brotherhood in the larger interest and welfare of the people.
