With regard to work orders for construction on roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has appealed to Roads & Bridges department to ensure that the work orders under its jurisdiction (Tuensang, Mon, Shamator, Kiphire, Longleng and Noklak) were issued to proficient and sincere firms/contractors, who did not have any otherwise records.
ENSF said that the appeal was being made in the backdrop of many PMGSY roads in Eastern Nagaland still laying incomplete/abandoned. ENSF alleged that no intervention had been made either by the state government, the department concerned or firms/contractors despite numerous appeals for proper workmanship and timely completion of works by various individuals, groups and organisations.
ENSF urged the government and the department to thoroughly investigate the strategic locations of the projects to be undertaken and issue work orders to the right firms/contractors who did not compromise on workmanship.
It also requested all organisations, unions, groups and individuals to cooperate with the firm or contractor under their jurisdiction for proper implementation of the works and timely completion, besides strictly refraining from any form of collection and harassment.
ENSF cautioned that it would be at sites anytime and clearance order/certificate would be withheld if the workmanship was not up to the mark.
Asking firms to properly implement the projects as per the specifications, ENSF warned that in the event of any false detection, it would leave no stone unturned to initiate action as per law and also against any individual, group and organisation failing to adhere to its directive.
