Chief secretary, J. Alam on Saturday asked the officers and staff of the Social Welfare department and State Resources Centre for Women (SRCW) to ensure that government facilities reach the doorsteps of people as this was their role.
According to a DIPR report, the CS was speaking at the departmental review meeting in the conference room of the chief secretary.
During the meeting, Alam asked the officials to have proper coordination among one another and to ensure better governance, set targets, give more focus and walk extra mile to achieve desired goal.
He also advised them to work in coordination with other departments to ensure the development reach out to common people.
Further, he emphasised on the need to have a banking account number for every citizen and asked the officials to put every head together to find the solution for any problem.
At the meeting, the officers presented their roles and activities through PowerPoint presentations.
It may be mentioned that the SRCW-Nagaland was established in December 2012, and functions under the aegis of the Nagaland State Social Welfare Board (nodal agency), department of Social Welfare.
SRCW is the Project Management Unit of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao in the state and Mahila Shakti Kendra district and block levels.
It has been actively working to fulfill its mission in carrying forward the mandate of the ministry of the Women & Child Development, which includes working towards the holistic empowerment of women through inter-sectoral convergence of schemes and programmes of the government.
SRCW is also the nodal agency for implementing—women helpline 181 and Sakhi-OSC under MWCD.
