ENWO unit dissatisfied with road works

Expressing dissatisfaction with the quality of repair works on National Highway-155, the Eastern Nagaland Women’s Organisation (ENWO) Tuensang unit has appealed to the responsible construction company (M/S Vertex Construction) to ensure that repair work was carried out as per the contractual guidelines and specifications.
In a press release, the ENWO Tuensang unit president Y.Alepla Chang, vice president Bahla Yim and executive chairman Ayemla Sangtam said that when the unit team conducted an onsite visit to the road repair work on March 17 and 21, 2016 it was found that work carried out was way below standard.
According to ENWO unit, the team also found out that some portion of metalled road have already been washed away and some portion becoming loose after slight rain.
“If the repair work doesn’t last for even a week the future of this portion of the NH appears to be very bleak and one is made to wonder what will happen with the rainy season just around the corner,” the signatories said.
As per the work order, ENWO unit said a total of Rupees Eight Crore, eighteen lakhs and fifty eight thousand has been sanctioned for portions starting from 93/00 km to 107/00 on NH-155.
Meanwhile, the unit has also appealed to the district administration, tribal bodies, civil society groups, “national workers” etc. to cooperate and extend full support to the contractor so the road was completed without any delay.
With regard to portion on NH-155 starting from 88 km to 93 km, ENWO unit said contract has been awarded to L.Pukhato & Sons. However, it said apart from digging of roadside drains, no works have been done till date. The unit has therefore appealed to the responsible company to start the work as soon as possible.
Further, ENWO Tuensang unit has urged the responsible authority to carry out necessary inspection of those projects before signing the work completion certificates.
