LONDON, MAY 10 (AGENCIES): Crystal Palace forward Ismaïla Sarr etched his name into the club’s history books on Sunday, becoming the first Eagles player since Glenn Murray in the 2012/13 season to score 20 goals across all competitions in a single campaign.
The Senegalese international struck in the 36th minute of Palace’s 2-2 draw against Everton at Selhurst Park, capitalizing on a defensive lapse to restore parity after James Tarkowski had given the visitors the lead. Sarr’s instinctive finish once again underlined his prolific form this season.
With the goal, Sarr reached the 20-goal milestone, a feat unmatched at the club for over a decade. The former Watford man has also equaled his best-ever Premier League tally of eight goals, achieved last season, but this time in just 25 matches compared to 38.
Across all competitions, Sarr has now recorded 20 goals and one assist in 39 appearances, marking the most productive season of his career. His consistency and sharp attacking play have been pivotal in driving Crystal Palace’s strong run in the Premier League.
The Eagles, buoyed by Sarr’s contributions, continue to show resilience and ambition, with their Senegalese star emerging as a central figure in the team’s push for greater success.
Elliot’s late strike secure vital draw for Forest
Elliot Anderson haunted his old club Newcastle with a late leveller to earn Nottingham Forest a 1-1 draw and edge them closer to Premier League safety.
Anderson had to leave his boyhood club in the summer of 2024 due to PSR demands as he joined Forest in a £35m deal. The midfielder has thrived in Nottingham, becoming an England regular. On Sunday he showed Newcastle up close the talent they let go with a fine 88th-minute equaliser.
Forest’s point moves them seven points above the relegation zone, and if Arsenal beat West Ham on Sunday, then Vitor Pereira’s side will be mathematically safe. Substitute Harvey Barnes’ second-half opener had put Forest on course for back-to-back defeats after they were thrashed 4-0 at Aston Villa in their Europa League semi-final second leg on Thursday.
But the home side rallied well to score a late equaliser to extend their unbeaten Premier League run to eight games and end Newcastle’s faint hopes of European qualification.
