Emlo-To Public Organisation (EPO) on Wednesday suspended its indefinite bandh which commenced from September 26, after the R&B department gave a written assurance through the Chief Engineer.
EPO secretary, Vikato I Chishi in a press note however said that EPO would be seriously monitoring the assurance given by the department. EPO warned that if the department failed to comply with their assurance, they would be compelled to resort to another step of agitation.
Meanwhile, Zunheboto Town Youth Organization (ZTYO) executives expressed solidarity with the EPO by taking part in the indefinite bandh (from Kitsakita to Kobokita).
ZTYO president Awoto Yeptho pointed out that road where the bandh was imposed has been the alternate route for the people of Zunheboto, since the main highway linking the district with the other parts of Nagaland remained disrupted.
ZTYO said the public including the student community have been adversely affected due to the disruption of the road. In this regard, ZTYO warned that the public unrest could well lead to economic blockade, as NH 702 (a) was also cut off by the bandh.
ZTYO said that the pathetic road condition was a proof of government aloofness towards the public sentiments over the years. ZTYO strongly appealed to the state government to address the issue raised by the Emlo-To Public Organisation at the earliest.
