Er. Levi highlights need for quality education

Parliamentary secretary for Housing, Er. Levi Rengma has expressed the need for quality education saying that though large number of students graduate each year most were not employable as they lack the basic technical skills needed in the job market.
He said this while addressing the gathering during the 22nd annual fresher’s social meet of School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD) at SASRD auditorium Medziphema, Friday. 
The parliamentary secretary also encouraged the students to strive hard in every sphere of challenges in life to become a successful person and contribute to the greater cause of the society.
Pointing out that colleges were central to the development of modern society, he said it was not function as mere institutions of learning but function as centers of excellence.
He asserted that education and higher education is the fulcrum and pivot upon which all other developments rest and rotate around.
Congratulating the freshers’ for having secured a seat in the institute, Er. Levi encouraged them to gather the best knowledge and experience from during their stay at the college so that they could face the challenges that awaits them with confidence.
A short speech was delivered by Pro. Vice chancellor, Nagaland University (NU), SASRD Prof. N.S. Jamir. The programme was chaired by students’ union president, SASRD, Kihika, invocation prayer by pastor, TBC Medziphema, Keviuchulie Mezhu, welcome address by dean NU, SASRD Prof. R.C. Gupta. Evangelical union, SASRD, presented a welcome song, Imnichetla Jamir (PG) and Alemla Imchen (PG) spoke on behalf of the fresher’s while special song was presented by Lalngaizuali and vote of thanks by vice president, student union, SASRD, Zhoponu Chuzho.
