Parliamentary secretary for housing Er. Levi Rengma on Tuesday inspected the wild fire incident place that broke out in Tseminyu area on February 29. The fire was controlled with the intervention of the villagers and the forest department.
During his visit Er. Levi expressed concern over the burning of the large area of jungle and added that the incident occurred as result of the “carelessness of some individuals”. Terming the incident as an “eye opener”, Er. Levi said through this incident one should be mindful of projecting and conserving the environment.
The parliamentary secretary also thanked the administration and the villagers for taking a prompt action. He also lauded the forest department for deploying the forest guard personnel and controlling the fire from spreading further.
Assistant Conservator of Forests, Tseminyu Forest Range Samom Khelen Singh, IFS, informed the inferno devastated 10 hectares of the jungle area.
