Essay competition winners awarded

Winners of the “Governor’s Certificate of Excellence 2021” essay competition on the topic “relevance of Gandhiji’s thoughts for building a peaceful and prosperous Nagaland” were awarded in the Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) hall on November 3.

According to a DIPR report, additional deputy commissioner Kohima, N. Bhavani Sri who chaired the programme gave a brief account of the essay competition. She said that on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti 2021, as part of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” and under the initiative of Raj Bhavan, all the districts were asked to organise essay competitions for high schools and higher secondary schools.

Accordingly, the Kohima district level essay competition was conducted online and out of 57 participants from 18 schools, Vijayanand V. Thomas, class XII from Rüzhükhrie Higher Secondary School, Kohima won the first prize while Alinen Kent, class XII from Stella Higher Secondary School bagged the second prize.

Deputy commissioner (DC) Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie gave away the first prize while principal director (DoSE), Shanavas, C presented the second prize.

Noklak: An award distribution ceremony of the district level of essay competition was held on November 1 in the conference hall of the DC, Noklak.

DC Noklak, Hiazu Meru while congratulating the winners said that he was impressed with the contents and encouraged them to hold on to the values of Gandhi’s thoughts.

The DC also handed over certificates and cash prizes to the winners.

Winners of the essay competition, K. Phunyang from Government Higher Secondary School and P. Peshie from Christian High School also spoke during the occasion.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by SDO (C) Noklak C. Phuniang while introduction of awardees and handing of awards was done by EAC, Pukha Lam.
