ESSU, SSN agree over GMS, GPS building issue

Eastern Sumi Students’ Union (ESSU) and Samagra Shiksha Nagaland (SSN) at a meeting at DEO Zunheboto office on February 9 have come to an agreement with regard to incomplete school buildings at Ngozubo, Shevishe, Kelto and Viyilho village.

In a joint press release, district education officer (DEO) cum district project coordinator Samagra Shiksha Zunheboto, Atovi Sema and ESSU president, Hokato V. Yepthomi stated that a thorough discussion was held pertaining to non-completion of GMS Ngozubo, GMS Shevishe, GPS Hoshepu and partial completion of GMS Viyilho and GMS Keltomi.

They said that the following points were agreed upon during the meeting: school building construction of GMS Ngozubomi and GMS Shevishe would be completed on or before February 28, 2021; school building construction of GPS Hoshepu would begin on or before February 22, 2021 and completed on or before March 31, 2021; all school building construction, including partially completed schools such as GMS Viyilho and GMS Keltomi would be completed as per work order specification including ramps/handrails for children with special needs, rain water harvesting facility, furniture, play material, fire extinguishers and electrification. 

In view of the outcome of the meeting, ESSU said it has put on hold “its own course of action”.
