Ex-MLA Kielu Ndang passes away

DIMAPUR, SEP 25 (NPN)

Former Member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly passed away on Thursday after a prolonged illness. He was 82. He is survived his wife and eight children.
Born in 1943 to Nambang of the Zeliang tribe, Kielu Ndang was elected twice from the 7 Peren Assembly Constituency (1971 & 1974).
According to family sources, his funeral service would be held at his residence, Peren Town on September 26, 2025 at 11am.
Condolences
NLA speaker: Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker Sharingain Longkumer expressed deep grief over the passing of former MLA Kielu Ndang.
NLA speaker described late Ndang as a hard-working and devoted man, who worked sincerely for the welfare and upliftment of his constituency and for the people of Nagaland.
Longkumer said late leader’s life was marked by dedication to public service and community upliftment.
He was elected to the NLA in 1971 in the bye-election from Peren A/C and was re-elected in 1974 general election from the same constituency representing the United Democratic Front (UDF). Speaker, on behalf of the members of the 14th NLA, conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed that his soul rest in eternal peace.

In a condolence message, Patton extended heartfelt thoughts and prayers to his family and loved ones in this hour of grief. Patton also prayed that the departed soul rest in eternal peace.
Kenye: Minister power and parliamentary affairs, KG Kenye, expressed pain and grief over the demise of N. Kielu Ndang, ex-MLA on September 25, 2025, saying the state has lost a veteran ex-parliamentarian and a tall leader on his passing.
Kenye said late Ndang’s immense contributions towards the people of Zeliang in particular and the Nagas in general would be cherished for generations to come.
He extended condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed that Almighty God grant timely solace and comfort to all near and dear ones during this hour of sorrow and despair.

Ex-PAN: Ex-Parliamentarians Association of Nagaland (Ex-PAN) through its president Joshua Sumi and general secretary Tarie Zeliang mourned the demise of one of the senior members of the Ex-PAN, N. Kielu Ndang.
Ex-PAN said late Kielu was known for his dedication and hard work in serving the people of not just Peren assembly constituency and the Zeliang people, but all Nagas in general.
The association said his demise was a great loss to the people of Nagaland and especially to the people of Peren.
Despite his inability to return to the assembly, Ex-Pan said late Kielu continued to serve the people till his last and was loved by all who were known to him.
Ex-PAN said it has lost a dear senior member whose presence will be missed. Ex-PAN conveyed condolences to Mrs. Lungchule and the family. It prayed that God comfort them during this time of loss.

NPF: Naga People’s Front (NPF) expressed deep sadness over the passing of Kielu Ndang, former MLA from Peren.
NPF stated that Kielu was first elected to the NLA in 1971 on a United Democratic Front (UDF) ticket in the by-election and was re-elected in 1974, serving until the imposition of President’s Rule in 1975.
NPF said late Ndang was a leader who worked to unite people across tribal lines and strengthened the democratic foundations of Nagaland during its formative years.
NPF conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for God’s comfort and strength in this time of grief.
