Former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Nungsangyapang passed away at Mokokchung on Friday. A two-time MLA, Nungsangyapang represented the 23 Impur Assembly Constituency.
In a condolence message, Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker Sharingain Longkumer expressed grief over the demise of Nungsangyapang, who he said was a close contemporary of his late father.
Longkumer said Nungsangyapang’s political career was deeply rooted in community service, adding that his leadership extended beyond the corridors of politics.
Describing Nungsangyapang as a passionate sportsman, NLA speaker said he represented Nagaland and various institutions at several prestigious football tournaments, including the National School Games, Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament and NEHU Football Team.
“He was a man of the people, whose humility, warmth and tireless efforts will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him,” Longkumer said, adding that his legacy would continue to inspire generations to come.
NLA speaker, on behalf of the members of the 14th House, conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed that the Almighty grant them strength to cope with such a loss and peace to the departed soul.
Ex-PAN: Ex-Parliamentarians Association of Nagaland (Ex-PAN) has expressed pain over the demise of one of its members Nüngsangyapang at Mokokchung on August 8, 2025.
In a condolence message, Ex-PAN president Joshua Sümi and general secretary Tarie Zeliang said late Nüngsangyapang had been a member of Ex-PAN since 2013 till date, adding his passing was a great loss to the Ex-PAN family.
The association said Nüngsangyapang represented his people as a member of NLA from 2003-2013 and discharged his responsibilities by working tirelessly for the welfare and uplift of the people of Impur A/C, the Aos and the Nagas. Ex-Pan said his demise was not only a loss to the Ao community but to the Nagas in general. Ex-PAN conveyed heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed that God give them comfort and strength as they mourn the loss of a loved one.
