Speaking as the chief guest at the 42nd Fresher’s day of Kohima College, F. P. Solo urged the students not to limit their job options, but to widen their horizon and look beyond government jobs or stable jobs in the state alone. Pointing out the skeptical notion of people about the ability of government institutions, Solo said that such negative attitude hinders development in the society. He said that there was a need to replace the negative mindset of the Nagas with positive attitude.
The chief guest further urged the students to keep up the traditions of the college by excelling not only in studies but also in their profession. With full cooperation of the teachers, students and the college authority, he expressed hope that the college would soon develop into a multi disciplinary institution in academic excellence.

Toshi said that the students have a long way to go to achieve destination, saying “the higher the way goes up, the wider the horizon.” He encouraged the students to follow the footsteps of leaders who succeeded in their goals with hard work. Saying that there was alienation of students from the education authority in the present day, Toshi appealed to the teachers to give their best in fulfilling their mission. He also cautioned that there was a red alert signal in respect to government institutions, and called upon the teachers, department, management authority to reevaluate themselves.
Delivering the keynote address, principal of KCK, C. Khalong Ao encouraged the students to go forward with positive attitude and not repeat their mistakes. Stating that Nagas hardly study, Ao said that such attitude should be changed and that one should fulfill the purpose of being a student. He urged them to work hard with sincerity, consistency and determination, having unflinching faith on their teachers, parents and themselves. He further said that the college was a confluence of great minds and urged the students to develop their talents and bring laurels to the college.
An important feature of the event was the inauguration of the college website by the chief guest. The website, www.kohimacollege.inc.in, would be accessible in a few days time. In the interim, one can log on to http://nagademo.in/kohimacollege/index.htm.
