Excise dept commemorates Int’l day against drugs abuse

Commissioner of Excise, and all rank and file of State Excise Department joined the nation in commemorating International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26, at Excise Directorate, held on the theme “Breaking the chains: Prevention, Treatment and recovery for all”.
A press release by Joint Commissioner of Excise, S Phyobemo Kikon, informed that the commissioner of Excise and Prohibition, H. Atokhe Aye exhorted the gathering and congratulated the department field officials on seizures and arrests, and also encouraged them to improve their field activities. He also led the gathering in taking the pledge against drug abuse and illicit traffickers and smugglers. The second session saw presentation by Lhunkholal on the topic “Recent drug trafficking scenario in the NE region”, and a presentation by Temsunaro Jamir, on the topic “Insight into the new criminal laws relevant to enforcement agencies and also on mandatory provisions of the NDPS Act.
The release informed that the programme witnessed participation by Ld. Public Prosecutor, Dimapur Court, Temsunaro Jamir, and Superintendent of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Dimapur Field Unit, Lhunkholal.
The programme ended with concluding remarks by Deputy Superintendent of Excise (Narcotic Cell), Osenrhoni Kikon, and presentation and vote of thanks pronounced by Additional Commissioner of Excise, S. Chanlei Angh.
