Excise Dimapur seize 720 cans of beer; arrest 1

Excise Dimapur Narcotic Cell (NC) enforcement duty party on June 27 arrested one Sanjay, s/o Deep, resident of Lahorijan, Assam on charges of possessing 720 cans of contraband beer.
According to deputy commissioner of excise (NC), Katoho Sumi, the duty party led by AIE on routine checking (MVCP) on the highway around Burma Camp area intercepted a three-wheeler goods vehicle bearing registration number NL-07-AA-1559, where 720 cans of contraband beer were found.
Katoho informed that the arrested individual was brought to excise narcotic cell office for further investigation along with the seized contraband and the vehicle. The seized items were deposited in the office Malkhana and the case is presently under investigation as per relevant provisions of the NLTP Act, 1989, Katoho informed.
