Excise Kohima personnel manning Peduchacheck gate on June 26 seized 141 cases of liquor worth around Rs. 3.50 lakh (street value) from an Imphal bound truck(AS01 CC-3484) and arrested one person in this connection.
According to a press release by Superintendent of Excise Kohima, VikikheAomi, eight Excise personnel led by assistant inspector of Excise Vipral Tase halted the truck and on searching it recovered the liquor which was concealed under sacks of fertilisers.
In this connection, Excise Kohima informed that the driver identified as one LairenlaktamMahikanta Singh (33) son of L. Babu Singh of Nongsum, Imphal (Manipur) has been arrested who later confessed that he was promised Rs. 150 per case of liquor on delivery. The driver has been booked under NLTP Act and the seized liquor kept in office malkhana, informed Excise Kohima.
