Excise Narcotic Cell personnel manning Chumukedima check gate on Wednesday apprehended one person identified as Ngovi Chakhesang (33) of Zelome village, Phek, and presently residing at Sovima village, Dimapur, and recovered 110 kgs of ganja from his possession.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Excise, Lanuwati Jamir, the accused driving an unregistered vehicle, tried to evade the check gate but was arrested after a hot chase. He said the accused picked up the consignment from Kohima and was supposed to dispose it off at Dimapur.
The Narcotic Cell personnel party was headed by AIE Nokcha, head constables Ikiho and Anglong, constables Thriose, Senka, Chumbenthung, Khuming, Shikaho, Khetoshe and Pongyong, lady constables Ajungla and Lochumi. The case was under investigation till filling the story.
Meanwhile, the same team seized 144 Spasmo Proxyvon capsules, 40 tablets of Nitrosun and 20 cases of IMFL on April 22 and April 25 respectively. In this connection, a case has been filed and the accused has been forwarded to court, Jamir added.
