Exhibition on ‘Women in Science’ held at Shamator

DIMAPUR: A district level science exhibition under the theme “Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat” was held at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Shamator, on June 15 with participation from various schools across the district. The programme was graced by Mekato J. Aye, EAC Shamator, as special guest.
According to a DIPR report, the exhibition provided a platform for students to showcase their scientific aptitude, creativity and innovative thinking through models and working demonstrations. Notable exhibits included a solar powered irrigation system, a model on electromagnetic power generation and vacuum cleaner technology operated through pressure.
Addressing the gathering, Mekato J. Aye emphasized that curiosity and critical thinking form the foundation of innovation, remarking that every invention begins with a question and that science is deeply connected to everyday life. He encouraged students to view local challenges as opportunities for innovation, noting that technology and the internet have opened unprecedented avenues for learning and creativity.
Referring to the theme, he underscored the significant role of women in science and technology and their contribution towards building a developed India. He urged students to nurture their ideas, remain curious and continuously seek solutions to real world problems, stressing that today’s ideas could become tomorrow’s innovations.
The programme concluded with inspection of exhibits and interaction with participants, during which the special guest appreciated the efforts of the young innovators and their teachers. The exhibition witnessed active participation from students, teachers and officials, reflecting a shared commitment to fostering scientific temper and innovation among the younger generation.
