Extension strategies for linking farmers to markets

Two-day online training on “extension strategies for linking farmers to markets” for ATMA functionaries was organised by State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) on September 24 and 25, at SAMETI, Medziphema. 

A press release by SAMETI stated that SAMETI director & principal IETC i/c Medziphema, Dr. Watimongla Jamir, in her inaugural speech emphasised how small farmers can also benefit and prosper from the emerging markets and value chains if linked effectively. 

She advised the trainees to adopt “bottom-up” approach of identifying farmers and linking farmers to markets so that they could sell their products.

Resource persons for the training programme were Vikaho Chophy Dy. PD SAMETI, Tiajungla Longchar Dy. PD SAMETI, Dr Mary N Odyuo, dept of Rural Development, NU SASRD, Medziphema campus. 

Feedback was received from all the participants and e-certificates were issued to the participants. Altogether, 22 ATMA functionaries from11 districts of the state attended the programme.
