Five-day extensive training of urban ASHAs under National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) was held from February 23 to 27 at IDSP Hall, Mokokchung.
The ASHAs were trained on home based newborn care like the roles and responsibilities, care of pregnant women and birth preparedness of ASHAs.
They were also trained on home visits for the care of the newborn and post partum mother, identification and management of childhood illness referral etc.
CMO Mokokchung, Dr. S.S. Akaba Longchar also attended the programme where he challenged the ASHAs and other workers to work in joint effort for more effective success of the urban primary health centre.
The resource persons of the programme were state ASHA programme manager, Chubala Pongen, consultant/ community process (RRE/NE), Rajesh K Monsang and consultant NUHM from the directorate of Health and Family welfare, Kohima, Aotemsu.
