Fabindia tenders unconditional apology to NHHDC

A day after the Board of Directors (BoD) of Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation (NHHDC) Ltd took strong exception to a newly-launched collection by clothing brand Fab India “Folkdelic”, Fabindia tendered unconditional apology and assured to immediately withdraw any products that in anyway hurt the sentiments of the Nagas.

In an email statement to NHHDCL chairman Miathou Krose, managing director of Fabindia Viney Singh said that their intention was always to popularise the crafts and highlight the immense contribution made by the craftspeople and artisans of Nagaland.
“For over 30 years Fabindia has supported the tremendous craft and cultural diversity of Nagaland and heritage of the Naga people. We work with weavers and handicraft artisans from the Zeliang, Konyak, Chakesang, Sangtam, Yimchunger, Phom, Ao, Lotha, Tikhir, and Pochury tribes through local entrepreneurs,” Singh said.
While expressing sincere regret for inadvertently hurting the sentiments in the process, Singh reiterated its commitment and support to NHHDCL and looked forward to working with the corporation towards promoting the work of designers and artisans from Nagaland.
