The official premiere of ‘Fallen Rise’, a bilingual feature film in Angami and Assamese, produced by Hillock Films in association with Golden Signature, was screened at Hotel Vivor, Kohima on August 8.
Advisor for School Education, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, who graced the event as the honored dignitary, congratulated the Assam-based Hillock Films and Nagaland-based Golden Signature for their collaboration. Reflecting on the film’s title, he noted that ‘Fallen Rise’ symbolizes a profound societal theme, representing the transformation of Naga society from its traditional head-hunting past to modernity through Christianity and education. He expressed hope that the film would gain recognition in national and international film fora and competitions.
Director Joon Khound shared his journey of making the film, stating that his initial aspiration was to produce full-length movies for international film festivals. However, due to budget constraints, he chose to craft a story that mirrors the lives of ambitious students traveling from villages to cities in pursuit of higher education. He highlighted that the bilingual film was shot across Nagaland and Assam, and its delayed release was attributed to numerous challenges faced during production.
Cast director Zapusazo Sirie recounted his experiences during the shooting, which began in October 2022. He said the project offered valuable insights into both village and city life, as well as the diverse cultures, customs, traditions and religions of the communities involved. He expressed gratitude to the Village Council of Mezoma and its citizens for granting access to the village vicinity and actively participating in the film.
The premiere of ‘Fallen Rise’ marks a significant collaboration between Assam and Nagaland’s film industries, showcasing regional languages and cultural narratives. With its thematic depth and community involvement, the film is expected to resonate with audiences and contribute to the growing recognition of North-East India’s cinematic talent. (DIPR)
