Family members of Sonam Raghuvanshi, one of the missing tourist couple from Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, believes the victim has been kidnapped and is still alive.
The family members said that they would be filing a kidnapping case on Friday, a family member said on Thursday.
The decomposed body Raja Raghuvanshi, husband of Sonam from a deep gorge below the Weisawdong parking lot at Riat Arliang on June 2 after a gruelling search of eight days after both went missing on May 24.
“It’s been four days since Raja’s body was found and the search for Sonam has yielded little result. We think it’s a kidnapping case and so we will be filing a kidnapping case tomorrow at the Sohra police station,” Gopal Raghuvanshi, brother of Sonam, said.
Gopal claimed that the whole incident was “pre-planned” and sought the assistance of the police and other authorities to find his sister alive.
“If it was a robbery case then the body would have been found. Since that’s not the case we think it’s a kidnapping case,” Gopal said.
The National Disaster Respone Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local villagers continue searching for Sonam, even as Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma says perpetrators would be booked and punished.
“The government will leave no stone unturned in uncovering what exactly happened to the couple. Those responsible for the murder will be brought to book and punish,” Sangma said.
“We are working overtime to get to the fact of what exactly happened. Nothing is clear about the sequence of events as of now,” the Chief Minister said, even as he promised the family members that they will get to the depths of the facts.
