With the objective to create awareness and appreciation of good cinema, a film screening was organized by Film Association of Nagaland (FAN) in collaboration with Federation of Film societies here on Saturday, at hill view colony, court road Dimapur.
Eight significant feature and short films from the region were screened.
Among the eight films screened include four films from north east region. Naga filmmaker, Theja Rio’s Konyak film titled “Angh” a notable film talking about a Konyak village chief and his young son who remain the last people in the region to be converted to Christianity was screened. Others include a feature length film by reputed film maker Hoabam Paban Kumar where he talks about his personal journey of being born in Manipur in the film called “Nine Hills One Valley”.
Pradip Kurba’s, much awarded Meghalaya short film “Patha” depicts a personal journey taken by one man to know how India prepares for the threat of the virus. Another note-worthy Poumai Naga short film “Look at the sky”, by Ashok Veilou narrates the story of a man declared an outcast by his people for not supporting the local candidate in the Indian election.
It may be mentioned that Federation of Film Societies FFSI, affiliated with IFFS International Federation of Film Societies, is now celebrating the 75 Years of the Film Society Movement in India. Film Association of Nagaland is also a member of FFSI.
